Fraudulent Freedom- Wendy Chukumah
Freedom is a social construct made from one imagination
How can one be free when a black hoodie means another black man dead
Bullet in the head
Babies drinking lead
They tryna sell me freedom but I won’t sign with they ink
Single mothers raising black babies while the baby daddies overdrink
Martin had a dream but they telling me stay woke
And they love Martin now but they didn’t listen when he spoke
Cuz now there’s black boys and girls in the streets selling dope
And that’s fraudulent
Freedom is wrapped up in the American dream but quickly becomes a nightmare
How can one be free when there’s liberty and justice for all but no love for them
Love is love gets them condemned
And unbreakable bonds start to bend
Society turn its back and all they have is their faith
But that all-living God now suddenly has hate
And freedom isn’t promised in the words they say
Instead of worrying about your rights all they do is preach to pray
And the only separation is that you’re seen as gay
And that’s fraudulent
Freedom is a baby that this society never nurtured
How can one be free when they have turn a broken house into a home
Nothing can they own
Have to be apart but still alone
And they can’t speak up when they feel they’re being violated
And a little girls dreams of being president is annihilated
Wives getting raped back then
Who knew Me too would ever happen
Claims of abusing the movement but the voice they have now they never had then
And now the man in office jokes about how he likes to grab them
And that’s fraudulent
And next time they try to sell you this American dream
Barter back and tell them you paid the price and freedom isn’t free
